The Rotary Club of Tallahassee proudly celebrated a remarkable achievement within their community. This August, at a heartfelt ceremony held at Lucy Ho’s Masa Restaurant, RCT esteemed member Lucy Ho was awarded The Imperial Decoration The Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays. This prestigious honor was presented by Kazuhiro Nakai, Consulate General of Japan in Miami, on behalf of the Emperor of Japan.
Lucy Ho received this distinguished award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to fostering positive relations between Japan and her native Taiwan. Additionally, her unwavering dedication to supporting the Asian community in Tallahassee has made a significant impact, both locally and internationally.
Lucy Ho's journey is truly inspiring. On her own, she became the doyenne of Asian restaurants, opening the very first Asian restaurant in Tallahassee. At one time, she owned and operated 10 establishments across Florida and Georgia. Her influence extends beyond the culinary world; she was a foundational costume designer and creator at the Florida State University Theater and Opera Departments.
Joining the Rotary Club of Tallahassee in November of 1988, Lucy Ho holds the distinct honor of being the first woman in the club. Her pioneering spirit and dedication to service have set a high standard for all members.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Charles Chi-Yu Chou, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami, along with a hundred or more of Lucy’s friends, family, and associates. The atmosphere was one of admiration and respect for Lucy's tireless efforts and her invaluable contributions.
Among the notable attendees were Mayor John Dailey, Lucy Ho, John Ho (Lucy’s son), Mei Lin (Lucy’s sister), and Kazuhiro Nakai, who joined together to honor Lucy’s exceptional achievements.
This event not only marks a significant milestone in Lucy Ho's illustrious career but also highlights the importance of cultural exchange and community support. The Rotary Club of Tallahassee is incredibly proud to have Lucy as a member and congratulates her on this well-deserved recognition.
