Message From the President

Roger Champion
President, 2010-11

WELCOME
This year promises to be another great year for Rotary. Under the direction of our International President Ray Klinginsmith, Rotary will continue to push to eradicate Polio. Just four countries still have Polio. These are Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Nigeria. With your help we can make it happen. Polio is on the run and the end is in sight.

Locally, the Rotary Club of Tallahassee will continue to be a community partner working with Habitat for Humanity, Rotary Youth Camp, Able Trust, Boy Scouts of America, Salvation Army, Hospice, ECHO, Interact, RYLA, Toys for Tots, Lunch with a Rotarian, Little League, FSU Rotary Scholarship House, Healthy Ways, Wee Care, and the Miss Willa Scholarship.

Internationally, the passion and purpose of our international projects continue to blaze new trails for us. This year we will help complete several projects in Mexico including Palencia and Capadillera water harvesting cisterns and support of Casa Hogar Girl's Orphanage. In Panama we are supporting a neonatal ICU with surgical beds and plans are currently underway for a project in Haiti.

This is a vibrant and active club and we need each member to continue their support. Please give to the Rotary Foundation as this is the fuel that drives the Rotary Engine. Let's remember in Rotary we are Building Communities and Bridging Continents.

Visit this site frequently to catch up on news and events and make sure to keep your personal information up to date.  Let's have a great Rotary year.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Roger Champion
President 2010 - 2011

By Lori McCall
Eleven years ago when I was nominated for membership in the Rotary Club of Tallahassee, I didn’t know much about Rotary.  Even after I joined, I really didn’t understand what it was all about, but the more I learned, the more I got involved and it has changed my life. Full Story

The Rotary Roast was a huge success!

Special thanks to Roastee Dr. Stan Marshall and all of the Roasters

The Rotary Roast was a huge success! It is estimated that $10,000.00  was raised by the event to help fund Club projects to “Make Dream Real!” The club appreciates the huge effort of Roast Committee Chair Mark Thomasson and members Bill Webb, Tom Kirwin, Judson Chapman, Roger Champion, Donna Thornton, Robert Estevez. A special thank you is given to Richard Moore for his consultation and expert advice; Pat Pallentino, who is providing valuable technological assistance with the videos, and  to Charlie Belvin who video-taped the event for the Marshall family. Mrs. Vera Nessen and her friend Dale Robinson made the event classy with piano and percussion ensemble during the cocktail hour. Thanks to them all for their many volunteer hours in our community!
